RnR Grammar

In today’s show, I said to Boom Boom:

“We are used to seeing breasts, but we’re not so used to seeing penises”

This ‘be used to’ causes A LOT of problems for people, but here are a few things to remember about it:

  1. It’s followed by the -ing form, notice “we are not used to seeING breasts but we are used to seeING penises”

  2. We use it for things that WERE strange and now are NOT, or when something is becoming ‘more normal’.

  3. It is slightly different from ‘get used to’ (that talks aboutthe process of things becoming more normal) but VERY different from ‘used to’ (which talks about something that was a repeated past action).

Remember those 3 things, and you won’t go far wrong, baby!👊
