RnR Grammar

The sexist part of grammar was when I said:

“I used to be scared of flying, but then I got used to it

To understand this better, here are some questions:

  1. Was I scared of flying in the past? Yes.

  2. Am I scared of flying now? No.

  3. What was the process that changed this situation? I got used to it.

Note how we use GET USED TO S/T for the PROCESS of something strange (flying) becoming a little easier. Once the process is COMPLETE, we then say “I am used to it”.

Also notice that when we put a verb after ‘get used to’ or ‘am used to’ it comes in the -ing form. So now I can say:

“I got used to flying or “I am used to flying
