RnR Grammar

If the episode today when I was talking about people writing rumours about me, I said I lived a boring life so…

“if someone were to write a story, they would probably write something about me going to bed at 11pm”

And then I said….

“if my mum were to read the story, she would be fuming”

This is obviously SECOND conditionals, but notice how I use ‘were + TO INFINITIVE’ like ‘were to write’ and ‘were to read’.

I could have ALSO said ‘if someone WROTE a story…’ or ‘if my mum READ‘ – these sentences are the NORMAL second conditional, but remember there is also this other option available to you or ‘were + TO INFINITIVE’.
