RnR Grammar

We had some SERIOUS RnR grammar today, when I was saying about the regrets people have in life and one of them was:

“I wish I hadn’t used my phone so much”

Ask yourself this question, is this something I want to change now or in the past? Remember, I’m dying when I say it…

CORRECT! It’s referring to the PAST, so we call this a ‘past wish’.

To make a past wish, we put the PAST PERFECT after the verb wish, so other examples could be:

I wish I hadn’t drunk so much last night
I wish I had studied more at school
I wish I hadn’t had sex with that person

Very useful this structure… as we all do stuff we regret doing! 😬
