Episode 5 – Love is in the Air

In this episode, I speak to ‘Dan the Man’ about Valentine’s Day. Learn the history behind the day and some stupid stories about some past Valentine’s Days for the both of us, plus you will hear the following Rock n’ Roll vocabulary:

At the end of the show when I am talking about the vocabulary I say:

“was when Dan was telling me that he had had 2 girlfriends in his life, I was quite surprised”

The repitition of the word ‘had’ can seem strange to some people, but this is correct. The sentence is in the past perfect, so the first ‘had’ is an auxiliary verb, whilst the second is the verb in its normal form.

This is often shorted to “he’d had“.
