In today’s show, I told Dan the Man that I gave a speech at school and there was 1 – 2 minutes of silence and he responded:

“it couldn’t have been 2 minutes”

BUT….

He said it in the typical quick British way and said

“it coudn’t’ve bin 2 minutes”

Obviously this is NOT correct to write like this, but I’m just doing it so you understand the sound!

Remember, it’s NOT important to talk like this, if you say “it could not have been”, then that’s fine. It’s just important to UNDERSTAND as it’s VERY common!
