I’ve been called up off the bench
Great way to learn English with an edge
The name was Charlie Chappell, aka Clarification Charlie
No, I’m in the dark as usual
I wasn’t aware of the day, it passed me by that one
Would’ve been better to do this last week, but we have to make do
You imagine your Nan has got problems with her eyes and she goes to the opticians
Oh really? Did I show myself up there for being out of touch?
Such as wanker!
Mario was an Italian plumber
It was a quite cunning way of actually meaning he just played on his own – deceive
Hopefully Super Mario Kart will set me in good stead for driving in Palermo
People are hitting are their horns
Boom Boom strikes up a conversation with these lads from Motherwell
Shall we play Championship Manager, or shall we pull some birds?
In today’s show I said that International Computer Games Day was last week, so it “WOULD’VE BEEN better to do this show last week”.
Notice how it’s written there, but it sounds like “would’ve bin”, in the contracted negative form, this sounds like “wouldn’t’ve” (it’s not correct to write like that, I’m just trying to make you understand how it’s written!).
Anyway, it’s NOT important to talk like this, but it IS important to understand this! Also, if you can get into the habit of using this form when speaking, it will make your life easier, as for anything in the past, you can always say:
WOULD’VE
COULD’VE
SHOULD’VE
And the easier it is to say, the easier it will be to remember! 👊
