What defines a nerd? That’s one of life’s big questions, so that’s what we look at today! We talk about Star Wars, fixing computers, video game national championships and much more! So nerd out with us and just keeeeeep on ROCKin’ baby! 👊
The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:
The jury’s out though because I haven’t finished the tea yet
No-one said they can hear birds chirping
We’re just going to nerd out
You had a crush on someone who had no idea who you were
I don’t want to get into that again
She was giving me the come on
I only wear plain t-shirts
I’d pulled a sicky the week before
I’m playing it safe
It’s just not my cup of tea (James Bond)
I’m out there grinding
It just kind of put me off
The one that really grates me is IMHO
I’ll take it on the chin
Notice in today’s episode I said “I like to spend very little money”.
Why did I use the word ‘little’ here?
Because ‘money’ is an UNCOUNTABLE noun.
So for uncountable nouns we use ‘little’ and for countable nouns, we use ‘few’.
One more thing to note here is that if you say ‘a few’ or ‘a little’, that has a positive connotation. For example, “I have a few friends” means “I don’t have many, but I’m happy with the number”.
But “I have few friends” means “I don’t have many and this makes me sad”.
Quantifiers are SERIOUSLY RnR, baby!
