Dan the Man is back and he is BAD! ? Today is International Say Something Nice Day, so we look at WHY that is so difficult! PLUS – stories about Dan in a car CRASH ?, LOSING money ?, a sexy idiom that involves holding HORSES ?, lots of RnR vocab and grammar and some SERIOUSLY good music – just keep on ROCKin’ baby! ???
Speaking of RnR vocabulary, here is today’s:
“I took the 20 hour bus” “yes because you’re tight and you didn’t want to pay for the plane”
If I said something nice, you would utterly reject it
You’re overthinking it
I’ll rustle something up for you
I bought some concert tickets but it was a scam so I lost £200
When I won the money I felt relieved
Ok, hold your horses!
Hurry up, you’re bringing me down
Let’s look again in more detail at the term ‘overthinking’.
As mentioned in the show, when you add the prefix ‘over’ to a word, it ALWAYS means that this is a NEGATIVE thing. Some over examples are:
The meat is overcooked.
The song on the radio has been overplayed now I don’t like it.
I liked nutella when I moved to Italy but I overdid it and ate too much… now I don’t like it!
This is the same with the word ‘too’, this also ALWAYS means something negative. For example, if you say “he’s too nice” that means it is a NEGATIVE thing…. so be careful!
