Bars on your window to stop burglars getting in? 🔒 That’s just one of the (real life) safety measures we talk about today, as well as the walking around with whistle looking for a dog 🐕, people called Tom, Dick and Harry 👀, people getting pushed in bushes 🌳 and lots more! So just keeeeeep on ROCKin’ baby! 👊
The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:
Finally managed to track him down
You’re so down to earth
It just popped into my mind
I pissed my pants
He did return them, fair play to him
Avoid shrubs outside your house
Well, sometimes I get carried away (when drinking)
You bring any Tom, Dick and Harry back to your house
He burgled a house, then 3 years later he repented
It still weighs on my mind
There were mitigating circumstances
It’s more hassle than it’s worth
That guy has peaked
He had a constant hard on
He is a pioneer
That’s bold (asking someone on a date)
I got turned down lots of time
When someone breaks in your house
In today’s episode I said that I ‘got turned down’ many times by girls. Notice the word ‘get’ here, as the action of turning down was done by someone else (the girls) and I just ‘received’ the action. This is a passive sentence, it would be more formal to say ‘I was turned down’, but ‘get’ is often used instead of the verb ‘to be’.
If we want to make this an active sentence, we can say “I turned Martin down”… but obviously that would only come from one of the many girls that DID the action of turning me down!
