RnR Grammar

In today’s episode with Stan, I said:

“So all day I was teaching English and then in the evenings I was talking to my friends that were English so it really took me a longtime because I’d never actually had that contact with the language”

Did you notice that “I’d never actually had”, we’ve got a past perfect sentence there with not one but TWO adverbs in between – now that is SEXY!

The past perfect is obviously used as I am talking about a time period before a specific time in the past, we usually use the word ‘before’ in these sentences, for example “before I went to England, I had never studied English” – the only difference is that I added in another adverb! 😉
