There were a few things to choose from today, but the one I liked most was at the beginning of the conversation when we mentioned we hadn’t spoken in a long time and said:
“it’s been a long time”
This is VERY common when two friends don’t speak for a long time, or you might even hear “how long has it been?” Notice we use the present perfect here and the verb ‘be’, it kind of makes no sense because there are words that we don’t say.
For example, the ‘correct’ phrase would be “it’s been a long time since we spoken last time“, or “how long has it been since we last spoke?“, but these last few words are left unsaid!
So there are TWO phrases you can use when you haven’t spoken to a friend in a while… you’re welcome! 😉
