I don’t think any city was built in a day but we decided to make a podcast about this one! ? Other than the Eternal City, we speak about SEX World Records ?, The Pope being a LAD ?, CATS called Dan the Man ? and so much RnR vocab that it’s almost ILLEGAL! ?
I utterly love this podcast
A wolf brought them up
How did the wolf change the NAPPIES?
His third wife was a nymphomaniac and had competitions with prostitutes
I can’t imagine there was much foreplay
I worked it out and it’s one a minute
I’ve got you on edge
You can toss a coin into the trevi fountain
Toss yourself off
You are a tosser
If anyone’s looking to make a few bob, go to the Trevi Fountain
Try and keep up to my pace
The latin word for left was ‘sinister’
I prefer cats because they leave me to it
The Pope is a lad
The Pope worked as a BOUNCER
The bouncers chucked me out
Partying like there was no tomorrow
Rome wasn’t built in a day
When in Rome, do as the Romans do
You haven’t got the bottle to cross the road
I’m going to England for a piss up
Don’t tell the police though, just keep on ROCKIN’! ?
I want to talk about synonyms (words which have similar meanings) today, as they can often confuse people.
For example, we had the word ‘utterly’ today, when we read out the review and it said ‘I utterly love your podcast‘. As I mentioned in the show, it is similar to the word ‘completely’. However, it is not EXACTLY the same, as generally 2 words never have the exact same meaning (that’s why we have 2 words and not one! 😉 ). Very similar meanings, yes, but 100% the same? Almost never.
To resolve this problem, you need to think of collocations. For example, I couldn’t say “I have utterly finished my homework“, but I could say “I have completely finished my homework“.
So what words go with ‘utterly’ I hear you ask? Well hear are a few: utterly ridiculous, utterly rubbish, utterly mental… and many more! So remember, never make a direct substitute for a word, try to learn the collocations! ?
