RnR English is a team (with new members) so we thought we’d celebrate today! 🙌 Listen to Dan the Man play an ELECTRIC GUITAR 🎸, get angry about being called Dictionary Dan 📖 and HELL breaking loose 🔥! So much RnR vocabualry it’s actually painful (for me 😢) but MEGA for you 😎! Keep on learning and keep on ROCKin’ baby! 🔥🔥🔥
The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:
That’s Dan playing it cool – be calm
That was mega
I went to one of his gigs
Before the sex drugs and rock n roll took their toll –becomes a problem
We had a bloody good run with reviews
I can’t be arsed to look for the reviews on iTunes
There’s no ‘i’ in ‘team’
I don’t want Dictionary Dan taking off
I can be focused on the task at hand
A lesson to draw from this is that….
If you put us in the same room, all hell breaks loose
That is utter bollocks!
That’s just completely made up
Let’s get to the next one before you continue spouting bollocks
If someone describes themselves to me and says “I’m extrovert”, I think “you are a twat”
It’s a good job enthusiasm isn’t on this list
I was absolutely shitfaced
I thought “I’m not having this shit”
Bonding releases a chemical in your brain
It creeps me out a bit
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and accept it
That went down like a lead balloon
In today’s show, when I was talking about when I got shitfaced at lunchtime at work, I said:
“I woke up and my computer had switched itself off”
Notice we have the past perfect here, which is when we use when we speak about 2 actions in the past and one happens before the other. The first thing to happen was my computer switched off, so we put that in the past perfect and say ‘had switched itself off‘.
That’s RnR grammar for you baby 👊
